AMMA’s Sarah King-Smith gave a stirring presentation about unlocking demand for Australian medical technology and the work of the Alliance to boost opportunities for medtech manufacturers to supply healthcare services.
Ego Pharmaceuticals‘ CEO Jane Oppenheim shared the global success story of this iconic Australian-owned company developing, manufacturing and marketing innovative skincare products since 1953, including QV skincare and Aqium hand sanitiser. With 47 therapeutic products listed on the ARTG, Jane’s gave us insights into the challenges of advanced manufacturing (at nearby site in Braeside) and navigating health procurement at scale in Australia and globally.
Tracey Shearer‘s passion for procurement was evident as she took us on a deep dive in to the procurement journey across public, private and not-for- profit health care sector.
Bradley Trewin introduced the group to Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS) to showcase how they collaborate with customers to solve manufacturing challenges when developing innovative products – and why it’s important to bring this expertise into your team.
Pete Saunders unpacked the real formula for commercial success reminding the group that developing a great product with no one to pay for it will end in failure!
Wrapping up the day, Valentina Trajkovski at Western Health brought us inside the evaluation room to reveal how clinicians assess and back new products.
