Finding new markets and accessing global supply chains is critical for Australian SMEs to compete internationally, while maintaining their operations in Australia which is why MTPConnect’s focus on international engagement is strong. We lead delegations to major global life science events including The MedTech Conference, BIO KOREA, BIO Asia-Taiwan Conference, BIO Middle East, and BIO International Convention.
The premier business partnering biotechnology conference in the world attracted close to 20,000 registrants last year with over 500 Australian delegates in attendance. Plan to be in San Diego 18 June 2026 for MTPConnect’s popular two-day visit program to world leading biotech companies and facilities and make invaluable connections with leaders in the sector.
We will also be hosting several unique events including our American Australian Association-MTPConnect BIO 2026 Dinner (21 June) and the celebrated Women in Life Sciences Leadership Breakfast (23 June).

We have been taking organisations to The Medtech Conference since 2017. It is an opportunity to help open-up new US market, commercial and collaboration opportunities for Australia’s emerging medtech start-ups and SMEs.
For emerging medtech companies, universities, research institutes and service companies, The MedTech Conference delivers world-class speakers, a cross-cutting educational program, invaluable networking (with investors, strategics and potential partners) and next-level technology, and this forum for transformational ideas is a can’t-miss event for the industry’s prominent and most promising companies. As well as connecting and showcasing Australia’s promising medtech start-ups, our focus for 2026 will be promoting the “Australian Advantage” for medical device product development and clinical trials.
MTPConnect will organise a valuable two-day site visit program on 15-16 October 2026, ahead of the MedTech Conference, so plan to be in Boston early.
Korea is Australia’s fourth largest two-way trading partner and is an emerging leader in life sciences. MTPConnect has an MoU with the Korean Government (through Korean Health Industry Development Institute) and is working to expand cooperation and opportunities for Australian companies. In 2025, we supported Austrade and State Trade Agencies to showcase Australia’s biotech capabilities at the conference.

MTPConnect’s inaugural life sciences delegation to Saudi Arabia for the Global Health Exhibition took place from 26–30 October 2025.The trade mission was to attend the GHE25 exhibition at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Centre and included a series of curated meetings and site visits.
Why Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector is undergoing a significant transformation as it emerges as a global hub for innovation, investment and digital health. Under Vision 2030, the Kingdom is investing heavily in building a patient-centred, tech-enabled health system — creating new opportunities for global collaboration and partnerships.
Saudi Arabia recently published it’s National Biotechnology Strategy to position Saudi Arabia as a regional and global biotech hub with a far-reaching impact in biomanufacturing and medical innovation.
Underscoring Saudi Arabia’s level of interest in Australia’s ecosystem, this week saw a visit from Saudi Minister of Health, Fahad Al-Jalajel to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney to enhance bilateral cooperation in healthcare innovation and investment.
This mission offers a rare opportunity to access one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets.
Opportunities in the Saudi Market:
A new era of biotechnology innovation is dawning in the Middle East. Mark your calendars for 14-16 December 2026 as BIO Middle East, the region’s premier biotechnology and life sciences event, launches in the thriving heart of Riyadh.
Co-located with CPHI Middle East, this inaugural event is more than a conference; it’s a pivotal gathering bringing together global and regional leaders, innovators, and investors to collectively shape the future of the rapidly evolving pharma and biotech sectors.
BIO Middle East is strategically positioned as the central platform for unprecedented collaboration, vital investment, and crucial knowledge exchange. With the ambitious goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Biotechnology Strategy, a powerful synergy is propelling the Kingdom and the wider region, to the forefront of the global biotech landscape, with a laser focus on high-growth areas.
Stay tuned for MTPConnect’s plans for a trade mission to the inaugural BIO Middle East conference.
