AMMA today releases its Future Solutions Roundtables Report, capturing practical actions and opportunities identified by health services, industry, and government during the AMMA Medtech Showcase in October 2025.
The event featured 25 exhibitors and attracted over 150 participants from across health services, government, industry, and the broader innovation ecosystem, including representatives from 15 hospitals and health networks.
As an AMMA Showcase 2025 Partner, MTPConnect delivered the event with BioMelbourne Network, with support from the Victorian Government’s Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and regions. Ten of the companies exhibiting were participating in MTPConnect’s Pathway to Market program, giving them the chance to demonstrate local medtech innovations in action to health service decision makers.
Across the day, participants explored a central question: how can industry and health best work together to shape the future of healthcare? Through plenary discussion, live product demonstrations, and facilitated roundtables, the program examined both the strength of the medtech sector and the factors limiting its full integration into routine health procurement. The Future Solutions Roundtables report summarises the afternoon’s discussions, which explored three issues fundamental to the future growth of local medtech manufacturing:
What works today and what to build on
Roundtable discussions highlighted that the health system already has strong foundations to support local medtech manufacturing, including:
Participants emphasised that progress can be achieved by evolving and better connecting existing systems, rather than creating entirely new ones.
Overall, local capability was viewed not as a symbolic preference but as a practical lever to improve reliability, accountability, and long-term system value.
Priority actions identified by the roundtables
Across the three Future Solutions Roundtable topics, participants converged on a clear, action-oriented agenda to translate intent into routine practice:
Together, these actions were framed as practical ways to improve continuity of supply, accelerate adoption of proven technologies, and ensure existing health spend delivers greater long-term system value.
Further detail on the proposed actions is available in the full report below.

Informing AMMA’s next phase of work
The insights and actions from the Future Solutions Roundtables have been incorporated into the updated AMMA Industry Action Plan, ensuring the priorities identified by health and industry directly inform AMMA’s ongoing advocacy, programs, and engagement with government and health services.
