Dr Dharmica Mistry

Senior MedTech Commercialisation Specialist

Dr Dharmica Mistry is our Senior Medtech Commercialisation Specialist, based in Sydney. In this role she is supporting medtech projects across MTPConnect’s accelerator programs including the Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA).

She has held several roles at MTPConnect including Director of Diagnostics Industry Engagement at where she led the development of a National Action Plan for the Australian government on sovereign capability and resilience for diagnostic technologies, working closely with the PTA. She recently managed the update of Clinical Trials Sector report which was released in June 2024.

Dharmica is an impact driven scientist and entrepreneur and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from University of Sydney and a PhD in Medicine from Macquarie University. She was co-founder and ex-Chief Scientist of BCAL Diagnostics and was previously Head of Medtech and Biotech at Cicada Innovations. Dharmica spent over a decade taking research discovery through to commercialisation, developing a safe, cost-effective blood test for breast cancer detection and building national and international collaborations. She has also supported the medical innovation ecosystem through a number of startup and scaleup programs, providing mentorship and coaching for researchers, entrepreneurs and founding teams looking to commercialise their impactful technologies.

Dharmica is a member of the the NHRMC-MRFF Industry, Philanthropy and Commercialisation Committee until 2027 and sits on the NSW Government’s Biosciences Fund Committee.
