Dr Erin McAllum

Associate Director, Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) Program

Dr Erin McAllum is Associate Director of MTPConnect’s Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program.

Erin is an experienced funding program manager with a passion for developing and implementing strategy to improve health. Erin has applied this to the design and delivery of an outcomes and impact evaluation strategy for the TTRA program and a funding round to support research projects that will benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Prior to joining MTPConnect in 2020, Erin enjoyed a successful academic research career as an analytical biochemist and neuroscientist. Erin’s research focused on neurodegenerative diseases, and her work spanned much of the research pipeline from fundamental research to discover the biological basis of dementia, to pre-clinical development of a drug candidate for motor neuron disease and Parkinson’s disease, which translated into Phase II clinical trials.

Erin has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Otago in New Zealand and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne.
