WA Grant Excellence Service Calls for Expert Peer Reviewers

MTPConnect, in partnership with Synergy Health Solutions, is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from experienced researchers to join the WA Grant Excellence Service (WAGES) as an expert reviewer.

WAGES is a new three-year program funded by the FHRI Fund, designed to boost Western Australia’s success in securing funding through national health and medical research and innovation opportunities, particularly the MRFF.

Our WAGES program provides strategic support for participants to enhance their funding applications and includes regular in-person and virtual workshops with an early focus on EMCR, clinician researchers and innovators. Qualifying participants have the opportunity to have their full grant application reviewed by an independent expert in their field prior to submission. This critical step allows participants to gain insights from experts on their application providing an opportunity to maximise its impact.

Expert reviewers will be providing constructive and actionable feedback that allows participants to strengthen their proposal.

We are seeking:

We welcome EOIs from individuals with experience across all areas of health and medical research, :

Discovery sciences
Health sciences and medical research
Health policy and systems managers
Health services research
Public health research
Clinical trials

We actively encourage applications from those who are part of, or who have experience in undertaking research in partnership with, the following priority populations:

Aboriginal communities
Multicultural communities
LGBTIQ+ communities
People with disability
Regional, rural and remote communities
Children and Youth
Older people experiencing disease of aging
People with rare or currently untreatable disease /conditions

Key Responsibilities:

Review assigned grant applications in a timely fashion and provide constructive and action orientated feedback that assists participants in strengthening their grant proposals
Participate in brief feedback meetings, if requested
Declare and manage any conflicts of interest

Requirements:

Post-graduate research qualifications or equivalent experience
7+ years of relevant research experience in your field
Experience in conducting peer review of research, involvement in grant reviews of nationally competitive health and medical funding schemes, (including ARC, MRFF, NHMRC and national NFP schemes)
Completion of peer reviews within 14 days
Adherence to MTPConnect Confidentiality and Declaration of Interest policies

If you are interested in joining the WAGES Expert Peer Reviewer Panel, complete the EOI by 1 June 2026. EOIs will be reviewed weekly and approved reviewers will be notified as soon as possible.
